The Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC) will be an advocate for children 0-5 years old in licensed childcare programs.  The Child Care Health Consultant will provide on-site health and safety consultation, technical assistance and training; telephone consultation; assistance with the development and implementation of policies and procedures and effective health practices; and assistance with maintenance of health records. The CCHC will contribute to the professional development of childcare providers, provide health education to children, parents and staff, and act as liaison between other health professionals and community organizations. The CCHC will work with the CCR&R to target the neediest facilities – such as those with one-star licenses, history of poor compliance with health and safety standards, and/or high percentage of subsidized children – for training and technical assistance. The CCHC will offer First Aid and CPR to Craven County child care providers, Smart Start Staff and Parents. This class will be administered with service related supplies. Services will be ongoing in various sites.
