Child Care Health Consultant program provides a registered nurse to assist child care centers and homes with health and safety issues. Services for ages birth to five. Call Terri Walls (252) 639-0242 for more information.

Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) is designed to help families find high quality childcare for their children in Craven County. They also offer a toy and book lending library open to the public. Please call (252) 672-5921 for information or assistance.

Child Care Subsidy is offered through the Department of Social Services. You may call a Child Care In-take Worker at (252) 636-4900. This program helps income-eligible families to receive assistance in paying for childcare. Services for birth to Kindergarten.

Community Outreach Coordinator works to educate the community about Smart Start funded services available through the Partnership and to connect families to these services. For more information, please call Pinkie Moore at (252) 671-0689.

Family Literacy Program at Vanceboro Farm Life & James W. Smith Elementary Schools - Call Renee Harrell at (252) 244-3226. This program provides a high quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood program for children 0-5 years of age while helping parents work towards their G.E.D., learn ESL, or gain job skills.

North Carolina Pre-kindergarten Program is a state-funded community-based, voluntary pre-kindergarten initiative designed to prepare at-risk four-year-olds in North Carolina for success in school. Programs are to meet high quality standards, with a specific curriculum that is focused on preparing children in developmentally appropriate ways for success in schools (e.g., emphasis on literacy, numbers, physical/fine-motor development, and problem solving/thinking). Parents As Teachers Program through the Easter Seals of North Carolina - Call Nicole Jones at 636-6007. This program staffs two Parent Educators (habla español) who go into the home to provide parent-child activities. Families receive development information from prenatal to age five, along with strategies that encourage language and intellectual growth, physical skills, and social skills.

Quality Enhancement (QE) helps to improve the quality of the childcare centers and homes in Craven County by addressing all components of the star rating system through training and technical assistance. QE is housed at the CCR&R office. For more information call (252) 672-5921.

Raising a Reader is an evidence based program that promotes daily book sharing between parents and their young children. Call the Smart Start office (252) 636-3198 to learn more.

WAGE$® Project provides education-based salary supplements to low paid teachers, directors and family child care providers working with children between the ages of 0-5. For more information, please call (252) 672-5921 and ask to speak with Jennifer Bolz or Teresa Doane.
